The Curse, The Dappled Light

The Curse, The Dappled Light

Dawn Ray'd

Even the politicians marvel
That you still believe
They would deem
To serve you

The land lies groaning
The mountains huddle closer
For fear of what
The coming years will bring
Those who tricked us once
Have come back round to try again

Why won’t you admit
Its only ever gotten worse?

Your vote adds weight to all they threaten
Your trust the only mandate that they need

And if they crush our fierce rebellion
If they stamp out defiance-light
I’d sooner cast off subordination
And believe in reprisal, and die for spite

And even if the fights forgotten
And our rebellion is erased
As the rubble of resistance buries us
We’ll never lie in cowards graves
