Flamborough Head

The sun is up night is on the run
Another brand-new day had just begun
A golden sky replaced the grey
The birds wake up and soon it’s time to fly away
A day like another day

Maureen wakes up and lifts her head
And she turns around, gets out of bed
She drags her feet ‘cross the cardboard floor
Like yesterday and all the days before

Each time she stares at her reflection
Blasted mirror tells a tale of imperfection
Her looks distorted by her mind’s disease
Those images, they robbed her of her sanity
A victim of society

The girls she sees in all the those magazines
Their features great, the looks of beauty queens
Their bodies perfect, slim and elegant
With skins so pure, she wants to be like them

Leafing through her magazines she sees those tempting ads
Inviting her to change
There’s no need to be content with everything she has
It’s easily arranged
‘Cause beauty can be bought
And all her problems rectified
But after that, will she be satisfied?

Staring from her window she sees people passing by
Each and every day
Are they satisfied with all that mother nature gave
Or do their looks get in their way?
If beauty opens doors
And seems to get one to the top
Is that what life’s about and we’ve got?

She walks ‘cross her room and she decides to take control
She knows it’s all inside her head, and now it’s time to let it go
The fairy-tale girl, the one she dreamed of as a child
Too bad it’s not within her reach but then true beauty lies inside
