Under The Weight

Under The Weight

Marti West

Under the weight of what I didn’t do
I found myself hid under what I did
But I’m home for the summer smitten by a song
I wish I’d writ ringing in my ears

And twenty-four years, I’d drive to the seaside
For a coconut kiss and a place to hide
And so I’m reminded of a man who was blind
When he’d talk talk talk and say nothing at all

I’ve never seen an eye so green
She’s the moon and I’m the sea
The keen perfume of jealousy
I’ve never seen an eye so green

Under the weight of what I didn’t do
I found myself hid under what I did
But it’s the end of the summer and at the foot of my bed
Is the same old song running round my head

I’ve never seen an eye so green
She’s the moon and I’m the sea
The keen perfume of jealousy
I’ve never seen an eye so green

Under The Weight
