Napkin Art

Napkin Art

Two of Us

I was running through the streets, when I got home
I had lived eleven springs, mama’s little boy
On a napkin I had drawn a man with one guitar an voice
Something I swore one day would become true

One chance to make me feel
That I can still hold to this
Promise my future holds
I can see clear it’s
Not too far
One dream that came alive in this

Napkin art
One moment captured in my eyes still
One heart might get broken
Yet eyes wide open
Stars in my own mind
Only true need to feel as one

Twenty years came by, drawing’s on the wall
I see my friends with boring jobs, feeling in control
While I’m caught up in this college desk
And write a thousand lyrics for
Deep inside I know this ain’t where I belong
Live a life of make believe
And spark this young-blood’s riot
Though I’ve been here before
Can’t spin this wheel no more

Not too far
One dream that came alive in this
Napkin art
One moment captured in my eyes still
One heart might get broken
Yet eyes wide open
Stars in my own mind
Only true need to feel as one

All it takes for me to feel alive
Is the purpose I’ve chosen
Over always feeling satisfied
With a life I’d be lost in
So long been hiding in the dark
But the shadows, they taught me
That I came out to tell my story

Not too far
One dream that came alive in this
Napkin art
One moment captured in my eyes still
One heart might get broken
Yet eyes wide open
Stars in my own mind
Only true need to feel as one

Stars in my own mind
Only true need to feel as one
