The Least Of These

The Least Of These

Wayburn Dean

There stood an old man in his eyes a story of woe
He laid down his head on a cold dirt road
Then you walked by and he asked you for some change
Here was your chance to make a difference
But you looked at him strange

What have you done for the least of these
A drink for a thirsty man, fed a child in a desolate land
What have you done for the least of these
Have you taken a stranger in, giving hope to them again
For the least of these

She only a child, forgotten and so weak
No mother, or father so she cries herself to sleep

She calls out to you and she hopes that you would care
For you’re blessed beyond belief
give her comfort in her grief she says

What have you done for the least of these
A drink for a thirsty man, fed a child in a desolate land
What have you done for the least of these
Have you taken a stranger in, giving hope to them again
For the least of these

Whether you share or withhold, in His word we are told
What you’ve done to the least of these, you’ve done it unto me

What have you done for the least of these
A drink for a thirsty man, fed a child in a desolate land
What have you done for the least of these
Have you taken a stranger in, giving hope to them again
For the least of these

What have you done for the least of these
Have you helped a friend in deed, said a prayer for someone in need
What have you done for the least of these
Have you given of your time, laid you life on the line
What have you done for the least of these
Share your blessings with the poor, you’ll receive so much more
